Tuesday Connection
Tuesday Connec†ion is a meeting place born of an idea first suggested in 2005. Meetings are held in the afternoons on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, with a break over the summer and Christmas periods.
Initially the intention was to provide a social meeting point for older members of the congregation although all are welcome. We seek contact with others outside the Church by encouraging members to bring along visitors and we have a few regular friends who join us having been introduced in this way. Although designed to be times of meeting socially with a variety of activities, we commence each occasion by bringing ourselves together in the presence of God through reflection on scripture followed by prayer. Meetings are attended by up to about thirty people, we sometimes have a speaker (subjects have included Guide Dogs for the Blind, Jewellery, Hop Picking, the work of Police Community Support Officers, ‘My Jewish mother-in-law, and many more.)
At other times quizzes or members meetings etc. are held. A summer tea and Christmas Party are regular events, and at all occasions a friendly welcoming atmosphere is key to the success of what has become an established part of Church life.
