Mission
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make diciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:18-20
We believe that every Christian has a mission and purpose in life. There are three areas where we believe the life of the church involves sharing the Gospel and teaching people about Jesus.
Firstly, we believe all Christians need to have a personal relationship with Jesus, and then they can share what they know with others.
Our encouragement and equipping comes through the teaching programme, through the preaching of the Word on Sundays, through study in small groups, through conferences and through personal study, prayer and reading so that we can give a ready answer to questions people have.
Secondly, we support various outreach programmes in Canterbury:
- Alpha courses to introduce the christian faith in a friendly way with a meal, video and discussion afterwards.
- Causeway Prospects enables those with learning and physical difficulties to worship and come to know Jesus.
- Oasis Coffee Shop where people can meet to have a drink, some food, a friendly listening ear and prayer.
- Open air campaigners go out into the streets of Canterbury and other towns in Englad to share the Gospel.
- Global Cafe is a monthly event run by local churches to welcome international students to the city of Canterbury.
- Full Throttle, led by Dan Harris, a member of our congregation.
- Global Café is an event with foreigners to get to know Christians.
- Youth and childrens work to enable young people to hear Good News and have fun. We also support the local schools worker.
Thirdly, we support overseas misisons:
