Partnering
with others

We are very pleased to be able to partner with other ministries, both locally and further afield, recognising that we are part of the body of Christ worldwide.

Blythswood Care

Blythswood Care is a Christian charity that supports the vulnerable and impoverished in Eastern European countries through practical support and education.

For many years we have supported their Christmas Shoebox Appeal, providing gifts for all ages which are then sent to places such as Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Albania. These gifts fulfil a practical need for toiletries and warm layers, but also demonstrate the love of Jesus to those who feel forgotten and abandoned.

In 2024, we sent 38 shoebox gifts, along with knitted blankets, gloves, hats and scarves, to those in need in Kosovo.

Canterbury Food Bank

The Canterbury Food Bank seeks to provide and support families living in short-term financial crisis in the Canterbury area. Along with advice and education, donations of food and other household essentials help to make up packages which are then distributed to get these families through difficulty.

The Food Bank is a vital service that is helping to tackle the issues of poverty and hunger in the area, and here at St. Andrew’s we have a Food Bank bin (which can be found in the entrance to our church) for those willing to donate long life foods that are well within date, toiletries or cleaning products.

If you need to apply for assistance, or would like further information on what can be donated, please visit their website:

Canterbury Street Pastors

The Street Pastors ministry was established as a practical way to show the love of Christ to those in the night-time hospitality sector and emergency services. They take to the city centre on Saturday nights, with bottled water, flip flops, and a listening ear so that they can provide practical help to those in the pubs and clubs. The Prayer Pastors are in radio contact so they can provide prayer support to any needs as they arise.

Dunamis Fellowship of Britain and Ireland

We came to partner with the Dunamis Fellowship through our minister, Bernard Fidder, who was already involved in this ministry of being equipped to serve in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Dunamis Fellowship provides in-depth Bible teaching, guidance and the opportunity to grow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Favour House Church

A more recent partnership has developed with Favour House Church and their monthly ‘In His Presence’ services. On the first Saturday of the month from 4-6pm, a service of praise and prayer is held at St. Andrew’s.

In 2023, we partnered with Favour House Church during our New Year Prayer week. We provided a prayer guide on the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, and they led lunchtime praise and prayer sessions. Out of this developed the desire to commit one lunchtime a week during 2023 to seeking God’s presence, and this has continued with a gathering on Thursdays from 12 – 1pm.

Pastor Daniel Gitau, Kenya

We have long-standing links with a church and community in Kenya, which developed through the friendship between our minister in the 1990s and their pastor, Daniel Gitau. Over the years, we have seen the development of healthcare and education facilities that provide better opportunities for those who live there.

Vaughan and Au Goodchild, YWAM, the Philippines

Vaughan was a member of St. Andrews Church in the 1980s before joining YWAM and relocating to the Philippines. With his wife, Au, they are involved in teaching and discipling YWAM students and also supporting the local community practically.
